New 'Facebook Law' keeps teachers from writing on students' walls

zuck-facebook.jpgA new Missouri law prevents teachers from contacting their students via Facebook -- but not everyone is happy about it. Sure, it'll prevent your math teacher from messaging you to remind you about your late homework assignment. Some teachers, however, have complained that a flaw in the law prevents them from contacting their own kids via Social Networking.

The law defines students as "anyone under 18 who attend or used to attend the school where the teacher works." For Christina Thomas, this definition includes her own kids -- so she's suing the state, The Lookout reports.

Lawmaker Charol Shakeshift tells the Huffington Post that the law prevents sexual abuse. "Exclusive and private contact with your students isn't educationally necessary," she says.

Thomas, however, believes that her own children should be an exception to that rule, since once they're at home, she's no longer their teacher... she's their mom.

We're just curious as to why she seems to do so much parent-child communicating via the social network site. They live in the same house. Hasn't she ever heard of text messages?

Was the last sentence necessary? Because people never share photos, videos or URLs on each other's walls... Seriously, that was uncalled for and rude. Who are you to question her communication with her children?

"Some teachers, however, have complained that a flaw in the law prevents them from contacting their own kids via Social Networking."

So, basically, they are mad they can't contact their kids through Facebook? IS THAT WHAT SOCIETY HAS COME TO?

News flash: If I need to talk to my parents or my kids, I CALL THEM ON MY CELL!!! Bunch of spoiled brats that don't understand the internet is a priviledge, not a right.

kelly- You completely missed THE POINT AND PRINCIPLE of that last sentence. Please, get off the keyboard and contribute to society.

this is ridiculious. i'm facebook friends with my former high school teachers in order to keep in touch while i'm at college. nothing creepy or sexual about it, just a way to be in contact with people who had an impact on my life. truly a terrible law.

Fbook is Censoring criticism of Obama. I wouldn't be surprised if they were also spying for him.

And Jersey scum, you're living up to your name. Please tell us, oh all knowing one, what was the point of the last sentence, if you got it.

From a teacher standpoint I get it. I think it is ridiculous that teachers are even friends with their students on facebook. I understand if you are in college and are friends with former teachers, but, teachers should not be friends with their current students. I miss when Facebook was just for college students.

Jersey- Thinking before you speak, I see? Considering I was a member of the military until I broke my back and now am about to graduate *** Laude from law school, I don't think you have any room to talk about my contributions to society. Especially since you consider it appropriate to refer to yourself as "scum". Classy.

OMG are you ******* serious!!!!! you live in the same HOUSE. Also YOU are the parent take charge and you will be able to get into the facebook from home. I can't believe your going to sue over this!!!! GET REAL

ONE AT A TIME, PLEASE.

Ok, JD929- The author was saying that you don't need social networking to communicate. And at the VERY LEAST, (and I assume she was being sarcastic) one can text their own family members THAT CAN REACH OUT AND TOUCH EACH, LITERALLY. Great mentality you got there bro.

And Kellydabunny, my name is just that, a name. Something you will never understand the reasoning behind.
As a matter of fact it was something I chose out of sarcasm one day reading about those degenerates from New Jersey. And since you're such a juggernaut of brilliance, tell me, oh tell me bunnygirl, what do you not nderstand about Carina's last sentence? What did your "degree" tell you it meant?
