Megan Fox explains tattoo removal; Marilyn Monroe 'was a negative person'

Goodbye Norma Jean.

After years on starlet Megan Fox's arm, the tattoo of Marilyn Monroe is fading into nothingness, with a little help from laser surgery. Fox has finally explained why the ink of the icon is going away.

"She was a negative person, she was mentally unstable, bipolar," Fox tells the Italian fashion magazine Amica. "I do not want to attract this kind of negative energy in my life."

Monroe was known to have bouts of severe depression. Her former physician, Hyman Engelberg, said in the documentary "Marilyn Monroe: The Final Days" Monroe "was a manic depressive." The screen legend died of a drug overdose in 1962 at age 36.

Earlier this year, photos surfaced of Fox showing a distinctly lighter version of the tattoo, prompting speculation that the 25-year-old actress was having Marilyn zapped off her arm. The former "Transformers" star has now confirmed it.

Fox didn't dismiss the option of having more work done on her body, especially when it comes to one of her many tattoos.

"Who knows, maybe I'll remove the others too, but the laser hurts," she says.

Husband Brian Austin Green is certainly hoping the ink of his name on Fox's hip isn't next to go.

Maybe she should have considered this before it was done in the first place and a visible tattoo only encourages young people to do the same !!!

Other than those with certain tattoos tied to special meanings (Olympic athletes with rings tattoos, for example and tattoos used for cultural reasons) most people I know who've gotten otherwise "decorative" tattoos (certainly big ones like Marilyn) generally regret getting them. And from what I hear the laser option isn't the most pleasant experience to go through.

She looks so pretty in 2007.
She looks bloated & botox-ish now.
Probably losing the tattoo cuz it makes it difficult to find jobs because of it.
Nice of her to blast M.M.'s mental illness~pure class she is~through & through.

Ummmmmm... I wonder if she knows Marilyn Monroe didn't have a mental illness on purpose. ;)

I often wondered if either her make up person or the cgi person hated her for having to constanly cover that tat for her roles

Yes Marilyn did have problems, But look what she did with her short life. The Clock is ticking Megan you are light years away from being any kind of Star !

Maybe Mrs. Fox shouldn't be so critical of others when she needs to deal with her own life issues. Perhaps Fox, whom I had respected till now, should do some research on people who have bipolar disorder and see what famous people had it.

Since I am bipolar, I do find this offensive. Not all people with bipolar disorder have as many problems or die from drug overdoses like Marilyn Monroe did, and not all bipolar people bring negative energy. I am tired of people saying that being bipolar means that a person is crazy. If she is removing the tattoo for that reason, then she should've thought twice before getting it.

"I do not want to attract this kind of negative energy in my life."

Well now, Megan. You think that a tattoo can attract negative energy from Marilyn Monroe?

You have a bigger problem than manic depression.

You thought you would use her likeness to be cool, and then when you find out she had a mental illness you want to ditch her for bringing you bad energy?? Maybe all that botox brought you some of that bad energy. You know it is a toxin right? lol
