Katy Perry ties Michael Jackson album record
Katy Perry now has the distinction of tying a record only held by the late King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson. Which also makes her the first female artist to do it as well. What's the record?Well, with "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" hitting no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Perry has now had five singles from her "Teenage Dream" album hit the no. 1 spot, tying the record held by Jackson's 1987 album "Bad."
The other Perry songs to hit no. 1 from the album are "California Gurls," "Teenage Dream," "Firework" and "E.T." The songs from "Bad" to land at the top spot were "Bad," "The Way You Make Me Feel," "I Just Can't Stop Loving You," "Dirty Diana" and "Man in the Mirror."
Billboard reports that while Jackson got his five singles to no. 1 faster than Perry (nine and 1/2 months vs. one year, two months and one week), Perry has spent more time with atop the Hot 100 18 weeks to seven weeks for Jackson.
Congrats to Katy Perry!
