'Flatliners' gets revived; Billy Baldwin's career still dead-ish
It was inevitable that Hollywood, where exciting original scripts are apparently few and far between, would get around to remaking "Flatliners." According to the Hollywood Reporter, Columbia Pictures tapped "Source Code" scribe Ben Ripley to write the new screenplay. The original 1990 movie -- starring Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, Billy Baldwin and Oliver Platt -- chronicled the extracurricular experiments of a group of medical students. Sutherland led the group of rebel wanna-be docs in a series of near-death experiences designed to find out whether or not there was an afterlife. Which, duh, was answered definitively in another 1990 release, "Ghost," where we learned that after death we come back to possess the body of Whoopi Goldberg.
We have a better proposal: Why not make "Flatliners 2" with the complete original cast? Now they're doctors who routinely "flatline" patients in a bid to rack up as many medical malpractice suits as humanly possible.
What do you think? Is "Flatliners" really deserving of a remake? If so, who would you cast in the lead roles?

God I loved that movie, must have seen it 6 times. Billy Baldwin was so hot, I had a huge crush on him! They don't need to remake it.
Does it deserve it? Maybe.
Should they? NEGATIVE.
In my opinion that movie is not outdated, to me it's still relevant. The only thing a remake would do is ADD CUTE FACES and SOME EXTRA CGI. Which to me is what every horror flick being made now consists of. But I guess the studios gotta cave in to the needs of all the spoiled kids coming of age now. NO REMAKE. Matter of fact, let's quit with the remakes and hire some writers that are capable of creating ideas and not copying them.
ANOTHER REBOOT?! Suck it Hollywood!
The fault, dear cinephiles, is not in our stars but in ourselves.
As long as people keep going to see these remakes hollywood will keep making them. It's a lot safer bet than risking something original.
I haven't been to a remake or reboot in over ten years. If others would have followed my example we would not know be inundated with all these stupid remakes and reboots (and prequels and sequels and such).
I thought flatliners was referring to Snookie's brain and the rest of her tramp friends !!!
We already had a sequel to Flatliners, it was called 24, and Kiefer Sutherland sent people to the afterlife every week!!
suggit liz, you semen burping idiot.
