Christine O'Donnell walks off 'Piers Morgan Tonight' after being pressed about gay marriage
Piers Morgan had a satellite interview with former Delaware Tea Party candidate Christine O'Donnell during the Aug. 17 taping of his CNN show, and after multiple attempts to get O'Donnell to discuss gay marriage, she walked off.
"Don't you think as a host if I say 'This what I wanna talk about', that's what we should address?" O'Donnell asks Morgan in the segment (embedded above).
The politician claimed she just wanted to discuss her new book, "Troublemaker," and the fiscal policies it outlines -- but Morgan kept bringing the discussion back to gay marriage and the repealing of "Don't Ask/Don't Tell."
"You're being rude," O'Donnell tells Morgan, at which point he says that he thinks he's just being "charming."

You go, Piers! Right on. :-)
When I saw Chris O'Donnell, I thought he was interviewing the star of NCIS Los Angeles, not some politicain who kept dodging the issues. Piers should have rang the buzzer and got her off the stage like on America's Got Talent !!!
Ground rules for subjects to be discussed
in these interviews are agreed to beforehand.
Piers appears to have violated that understanding.
Christine felt set-up and that is what happened.
As for Piers and Christine I have
had quite enough of both of them.
This is not TV worth watching and
that is why no one is.
She talks about gay rights in her book. He was absolutely on topic. She wanted to talk about SOME things in her book. Not others. Can't do that. Didn't wanna talk about it, don't write about it.
Slammer sumed it up perfectly.
All she had to do was answer the question, and she could have had time to speak about what she wanted. But instead she wasted time backtracking. If it is in the book and you want to discuss the book then you can't really pick and choose which parts of the book you want to speak about. Everything in the book is fair game!
They'd agreed to discuss specific issues in the book but as always Piers, like he's done with other guests, is unable to keep to the specifics. You did the right thing Christine.
Oh no, was this one of the media's gotcha questions all these crazy people are afraid to answer?
Sue,
As a journalist, Piers would never keep to a list provided by a politician. Not done. She said he should stick to the topics she wants to discuss and he said, "But you're a politician."
I'm pretty sure no political leader gets to walk out of an international negotiation because the other side didn't stick to the topic. They're expected to be able to handle these things - comes with a desire to run the country.
I totally think that Piers did the right thing. This is a quid pro quo relationship. For her to get publicity for her book and him to ask questions for just a few minutes, hopefully something bringing ratings. When you start letting the guests on these shows dictate the only questions to be asked, that makes for really bad news. What celebrity would make questions to grill themselves?
