Chris Tucker starts new stand-up tour, believes he can always come back in the business

chris-tucker-getty.jpgNot much has been seen of comedian Chris Tucker in recent years. He burst onto the movie scene in the late 1990s with "The Fifth Element,"  "Rush Hour" and "Rush Hour 2," then mostly disappeared, only appearing recently in the 2007 movie "Rush Hour 3."

He says it was largely due to being disappointed with the roles offered to him. They were too similar to the "Rush Hour" role, Tucker tells the New York Times, and "frankly, just weren't good enough." So he took a break

But now he's back, with a new comedy tour that he tells the Times is a mark of bigger things to come.

"It would only make me better to be more patient," says Tucker. "I was fearless with that. Because I believe in myself. And I believe that I can always come back in the business."

He also says his current stand-up routine is a lot different from the one he performed when he was a 22-year-old nobody. Now, it's more about the pitfalls of fame.

Tucker's stand-up tour starts Friday night (Aug. 19) in Long Beach, CA and criss-crosses the country until ending in Oakland, CA on Nov. 26. Tickets can be bought here.

good luck mr. tucker because it's a cold world out there now.

This is B.S. !!!!!!!!! He got real religious and would not swear in his stand up act. He cut out much of what made him a star. This tour will flop if he stays with that type of act. He also gained tons of weight and lost that look he had. NO ONE WILL PAY TO SEE A CLEAN STAND-UP ACT FROM Chris Tucker

This is not B.S, So what he got religious. That'sapositive thing. People have so much to say about rappers that use foul language, now that somebodys using clean language you say no one will pay to see him. I am a fan of his, I would pay to see him. GET A GRIP

I agree with "o" every time that there is a story about a black star... positive or other wise, the innevitable gangsta, thug, ignorant,(and often times worse) references get thrown around. Instead of going into a (wasted) rant and pointing out the wrong in painting all black stars with the same broad, negative, and SOMEWHAT rascist brush. Suffice it to say that a good percentage of the responders to these stories are just plain old haters.Besides "ME" take a goooood look, and if you're honest with yourself... I'm sure that you will discover that you have lost the look you had also.

Change is good especially when it is positive. Why are many people against religion ??? even leading to war over religious beliefs. Why do you think he would not be funny because he changed his brand of humor to a cleaner style ??? look at Bill Cosby and his clean act as an inspiration.

He talks about religion, but still curses....good show. He also lost weight, not skinny as "Smokey", but he looks good.
