Chad Michael Murray back on 'One Tree Hill': But what else has he been up to?

Fans have spent two years hoping that Chad Michael Murray would make a return appearance on The CW's veteran drama "One Tree Hill," and now, he's finally confirmed that he will return as Lucas for one episode in the series' ninth and final season.When Murray left the show after Season 6, there were rumors that he was hoping to launch a movie career -- but that didn't quite pan out. Still, the man who conquered the trifecta of televised adolescent angst (he had significant roles on "Gilmore Girls," "Dawson's Creek," and obviously "One Tree Hill") hasn't exactly been navel-gazing for the last two years.
After the Season 6 finale of "OTH," CMM took a little break from the spotlight -- and for good reason! He'd spent six years as a WB heartthrob, which, he admits, may have skewed his perspective on life just a smidge. "When you're young and you're thrown into something that I was definitely not ready for--I'm human and screw up. I'm glad I went through it, I really am, because I wouldn't have come out the other side," he told E! earlier this year.
The other side, for Murray, included Lifetime movie "Lies in Plain Sight" (if you can't guess from the typically punny title, it was about a blind woman and the tangled web we weave) and ABC Family's holiday film "Christmas Cupid" alongside "Pretty Little Liars" star Ashley Benson.
He also worked on a short film and has wrapped production on two features, ghost story "The Haunting in Georgia" and "Renee," which is connected to one of Murray's favorite charities, To Write Love on Her Arms.
Perhaps more importantly, Murray completed his graphic novel "Everlast," a project that's been close to his heart for eight years, since he was intrigued by a man who knocked on his door during his time in Wilmington, NC, filming "One Tree Hill."
"It's a book of choice. Apocalyptic, about looking in yourself. And it's about the loneliest man in the world," he told the Orlando Sentinel. "The first chapter is this dark world, then it gets a little more lighthearted. We go into the perspective, see this world through the eyes of a 14-year-old girl."
The first installment of "Everlast" is available for free on Murray's website. The novel is available for pre-order on Amazon.

Chad also released a free "Everlast" short called "Phoenix," which is also on his site. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. He's a really good writer and I'm looking forward to reading "Everlast" when it comes out!
I have never understood why shows feel the need to bring back people who left the series, to move on to better things. He made a choice to leave, maybe he should stay gone.
dee dee i agree with you the guy made a choice to leave he should be brave and stay with what he wanted and now after not having a career outside the show 2 tv movies and 2 small movies are not a great career are running to oth again
Chad made a big mistake coming back to one tree hill for some fans of the show this will be great but for hes career will be horrible.Oth is not the most loved show in the industry in fact is considered a joke in the industry is on the cw and ratings a horrible coming back just shows some desperation on chad part.
I think Chad is coming back, cause he know without One Tree Hill, he isn't known as he would like to be.. I think coming back to OTH would help both of them.. The fans would love Chad being back and him being back would give CW rating, cause alot people stop watching cause Chad/Hilarie left.. I started watching it again when I found out they left..
He's coming back for one lame episode. People forget - he didn't leave OTH, they didn't renew his contract. He should just be lucky he was paid to do something he clearly wasn't qualified to do....hence the non-career ever since - look at imdb to see who his co-stars are in these new "movies" - they be lucky to go straight to DVD.

Whats wrong with you people? First off, he didnt 'leave' the show, he got kicked off cause it was costing to much to have him there, and him coming back will sky rocket the ratings. He was the main character. And just because he hasn't been doing all these amazing movies doesnt mean he hasnt been doing anything. Hes been working on a graphic novel for 8 years already and has filmed like 3 movies, and one in production. You people just talk **** when you clearly haven't done **** all with your lives.
I am so happy he is coming back we need it and payton should come back too and the baby I love them so much I am so happy can't wait for season 9
