Caylee Anthony's birthday celebrated by crowd, memorial announced

Caylee Anthony, the little girl whose death was the center of a high-profile murder trial of her mother Casey Anthony, was remembered Tuesday (Aug. 9) on what would have been her sixth birthday. The Orlando Sentinel reports the crowd, which included Caylee's grandparents George and Cindy Anthony, gathered in the neighborhood near the wooded area where the girl's body was found three years ago.

The occasion also saw Bring Kids Home, a nonprofit group that helps missing and abused children, announce that they want to build a memorial on the site. It would be an art project designed by Jefre and would focus on a reflecting pond with a glass ring hanging over it like a halo. The theme would be the Winnie-the-Pooh books and there would be areas along a path where visitors could leave stuffed animals and other items to be given to children's charities. There would also be glass disk containing the names of missing children.

Bring Kids Home hopes to raise $200,000 and receive county approval for the memorial. Caylee's grandparents say they would support the memorial, if it was tastefully done.
