Bernie Madoff Dumped! Wife Ruth Madoff chooses son and grandchildren

Inmate #61727-054 will likely have one fewer visitor for the remaining 148 years of his sentence. Ruth Madoff, wife of imprisoned Ponzi scheme mastermind Bernie Madoff, is seeking to divorce her locked up husband according to the Daily Mail.

The couple have been married for 52 years and first began dating as teens. According to reports, Ruth has not visited her husband at the Federal Correctional Complex in Butner, N.C. since their son Mark committed suicide in December 2010. She is now focused on repairing the relationship with her remaining son Andrew and her grandchildren.

Bernie Madoff is currently serving a 150 year prison sentence for running a Ponzi scheme that bilked $65 billion from investors. Clients of the Madoff include Kevin Bacon and wife Kyra Sedgwick, Dreamworks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg and Philadelphia Eagles owner Norman Braman.

To date, an astonishing $8.6 billion of the $17.3 billion lost by Madoff's victims has been returned to investors thanks to efforts from court-appointed trustee Irving Picard.
