Adam Levine vs. the MTV Video Music Awards

Maroon 5's frontman Adam Levine is not shy about expressing his opinions. Earlier this month, he took "American Idol" to task in an Out interview for not letting their contestants be open about being gay while on the show.Now he has expressed his displeasure over the MTV Video Music Awards. On Saturday (Aug. 27), Levine took to Twitter with, "the VMA's. one day a year when MTV pretends to still care about music. I'm drawing a line in the sand. f*** you VMA's." [editing added]
The official MTV Twitter account responded with, ".@adamlevine Soooo you'll be tuning in at 9/8C tomorrow right? (BTW, bonus points if you TwitPic your 2004 Moonman!) #VMA." (Maroon 5 won a Moonman in 2004 for Best New Artist.)
And Levine followed up with, "still waiting to have my "jerry macguire mission statement moment of deep regret..." not happening. phew!" and "i may be a pop singer. but every once in a while the angsty teenager in me just blurts out some raw honesty. it's a reflex."

I think Adam Levine is dead on the money. MTV used o be about artist's and their music and videos. Now it has gone to crap with nothing but reality shows. Last time I checked, MTV stood for MUSIC TELEVISION not Mostly Trashy Vomit
i remember the good old days when MTV plagued the days leading up the VMAs with specials and rebroadcasts of past VMAs, as well as videos of the nominees, now they are pushing Jersey Shore and Teen Mom down our throats. How can have nominees for a show when they don't show them on MTV?????

Team Adam, I suppose. Its a shame MTV has veered so widely from its musical beginnings. While some deviation through the years is normal, to become a network known for trashy reality TV instead of music is quite a come down.

Both MTV Music & Movie Awards give away everything to just about the most talked about "tween favorite" artists and movies (read:twilight and harry potter).. What about other alternative music?
And.. All the 'reality' stuff they show on MTV now.. It's no longer about MUSIC!
