Things still aren't looking very good for Tiger Woods. The 35-year-old golfer announced on his website that he'll skip the British Open this year, making it the 4th major championship out of the last 13 that he's missed because of injury.

"Unfortunately, I've been advised that I should not play in the British Open," he says. "As I stated at the AT&T National, I am only going to come back when I'm 100 percent ready. I do not want to risk further injury. That's different for me, but I'm being smarter this time. I'm very disappointed and want to express my regrets to the British Open fans."

This statement broke over a week of silence on the subject from the Woods camp, as many speculated he'd be bowing out this year.

Woods was diagnosed with mild sprains to his left knee and left Achilles tendon in April after injuring himself during the third round at the Masters. He tried to rally for the Players Tournament in May, but had to withdraw after only nine holes of play.

"In hindsight, I probably shouldn't have competed at The Players, but it's a big event, and I wanted to be there to support the tour," Woods adds. "I've got to learn from what I did there and do it right this time and not come back until I'm ready."

And when he is ready, Woods maintains a positive outlook on his career. "I think my best years are still ahead of me, and I'm very confident and optimistic about the future."

In his stead, American Jason Dufner will take the course at Britain's Royal St George's this July.

What's the big deal? You just stand there and swing the club! It's not liek you're running a sprint!

easy for your to say xianguo... golf is a game of precision.. you need to focus on how you can hit the ball precisely... you can't do that if you're worrying about your leg. he's not 100% ready.

That injury takes quite a while to really heal for good. Sometimes it never fully does. He prob should just take the rest of the year off and heal up all the way and get his swing back.
