Rhys Ifans reportedly arrested at Comic-Con for misdemeanor battery

rhys-ifans-getty.jpgRhys Ifans has been arrested at Comic-Con 2011 in San Diego for misdemeanor battery, according to The Wrap. Police say he shoved a female security guard, smelled of alcohol and became irate when a member of his entourage was not allowed inside the auditorium due to lack of proper credentials.

"He was aggressive and belligerent," says Lt. Andra Brown. "He was ... berating everyone from the security staff to the United States of America."

Ifans was charged, cited and released. He must now either pay a fine or contest the case before a judge.

Ifans was at Comic-Con because he stars in the upcoming "The Amazing Spider-Man" as villain Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard. You may also know him from "Notting Hill" and "The Replacements" or "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I," wherein he played Luna's father Xenophilius Lovegood.
