New 'Avengers' poster is the very definition of a teaser
Here's what you won't see on the teaser poster for "The Avengers" that Marvel unveiled Thursday (July 21): Any of the Avengers.
Here's what you will see:
The poster (and the movie's website) went live Thursday, coinciding with the start of Comic-Con. Frankly, we're a bit underwhelmed at the great big version of the Avengers logo and the tagline "Assemble 2012."
It's not that we're not excited for the movie -- pretty much the opposite. But we were hoping for some sort of glimpse of the super-team gathered together, a la the licensing image that popped up online last month. That will have to wait, apparently.

That is a really boring poster. That will not grab the attention of anyone who passes by it (which is the whole point of movie posters, to get people who see it excited for the movie). Hopefully that is not the final poster they actually use for theatres.
