Kim Kardashian has psoriasis; it's OK, she'll survive

On Sunday's (July 24) "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," a doctor diagnosed Kim Kardashian with psoriasis, a chronic skin condition not usually associated with glammed up reality stars who got their start in the business with an Internet sex tape.Psoriasis is, according to WebMD, a skin condition caused by skin cells that multiply 10 times quicker than usual and often result in "red plaques covered with white scale." Psoriasis can also lead to "disorders of the fingernails and toenails, including discoloration" and "plaques of scales or crust on the scalp."
As Kardashian's one-time friend Paris Hilton would say: That's hot.
Kardashian's doctor suggested she slow down her busy schedule to alleviate some of the symptoms, which are often cyclical and can be affected by stress.
"It's just not possible," she said.
"My career is doing ad campaigns and swimsuit photo shoots," Kardashian explained to the doctor. "People don't understand the pressure on me to look perfect."
While there is no known cure for psoriasis, it is treatable with everything from topical ointments to ultraviolet light therapy.

My mom has severe psoriasis (and I'm expecting the bell to toll for me before long). It can be pretty nasty, but yeah it's not fatal. And as far as her modelling, etc - they can cover up tattoos, scars, etc with make-up, or Photoshop, so I don't see the issue unless she's planning to become a stripper or something.
It's not just about rashes. Having psoriasis can affect you emotionally. It makes you extremely self-conscious. My sister has it ( I don't thankfully) and it was really out of control. And people can be cruel when they see it. She was teased for it.
And some treatments just don't work for certain people. For certain people it is hard to manage. I found this dismissive, when you don't know her case.
It's an occupational hazard when your body is your bread-and-butter. Maybe she should conjure a backup plan.
Oh no she'll live? Too bad.
Gee maybe this is a signal she should disappear.
