Kat Von D: From Jesse James to Nikki Sixx, a relationship timeline

On Monday (July 25) came the not entirely unexpected news that reality TV tattoo queen Kat Von D and Jesse James -- the erstwhile "Monster Garage" host who and Sandra Bullock ex -- had split, bringing an end to their short engagement.

This is only the latest in a series of high profile break ups for the "LA Ink" star. We thought it might be a good idea to review Kat's past relationships. Hey, those who forget past mistakes are doomed to repeat them.

In reverse chronological order...

Jesse James (Aug. 2010 - July 2011): Kat started dating James soon after her break-up with Nikki Sixx (below). Real soon. James himself had recently been dumped by now-ex Sandra Bullock, on whom he cheated with a variety of women who talk to TMZ.

Nikki Sixx (2008 - 2010): When Kat started dating the Motley Crue bassist, it seemed she had finally found her soulmate. But, an abrupt break-up put an end to their seeming synergy. "I want to wish Katherine nothing but the best in her life," wrote Sixx on his website after their breakup. "She has loved and inspired the hell outta me and I know I have done the same for her in these almost two years we ruled the earth together."


Alex Orbison (2007 - 2008): "Orby," the drummer for L.A.-based band Whitestarr and son of legendary musician Roy Orbison, seemed like a nice guy when he appeared in several episodes of "LA Ink."


Steve-O (2007, kinda): "Basically, I think the both of us are far too busy trying to make all of our projects a success to have any extra time to devote to partying and hangin' out," wrote Kat on her website.


Oliver Peck (2004 - 2007): Kat was married to this fellow tattoo artist for four years. Peck owns Elm Street Tattoo in Dallas and once called Von D, "the most self-centered person I've ever been involved with."
