'John Carter' trailer: Taylor Kitsch loses his shirt on Mars

Taylor Kitsch takes on his first starring movie role in "John Carter," but from the looks of the trailer, becoming a movie star doesn't necessarily entitle you to a full set of clothing.

We're also guessing that fans of Kitsch -- best known as the brooding Tim Riggins on "Friday Night Lights" -- won't mind.

Up above is the U.K. version of the trailer for "John Carter," which is based on an Edgar Rice Burroughs novel about a Civil War veteran who is transported to Mars and finds himself embroiled in another conflict. The movie, due for release in March, also stars Lynn Collins and Willem Dafoe. Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton ("Wall-E," "Finding Nemo") is making his live-action directing debut with "John Carter" and co-wrote the script with novelist Michael Chabon.
