'In Time': Justin Timberlake's sci-fi debut teased at Comic-Con

justin-timberlake-in-time.jpgWe know Justin Timberlake is comfortable with comedy -- see his various "Saturday Night Live" appearances, his new movie "Friends With Benefits," etc. And he's done pretty well with supporting roles in dramas, most notably "The Social Network."

But can he carry a drama -- or more specifically, a sci-fi drama?

We're not sure yet, but based on a nearly four-minute teaser for his upcoming movie "In Time" that screened at Comic-Con, we're curious to find out. The movie comes from "Gattaca" and "Lord of War" writer-director Andrew Niccol and is set in a future where time is currency and people don't age past 25. They also don't live much past 25 -- unless they can buy or steal more time.

Timberlake's character is given a whole lot of time, which he then has to protect from various forces trying to take it away. "In Time" also stars Amanda Seyfried ("Red Riding Hood"), Matt Bomer ("White Collar"), Cillian Murphy ("Batman Begins", Johnny Galecki ("The Big Bang Theory") and "Mad Men's" Vincent Kartheiser, playing a character not unlike Pete Campbell, only even more oily.

The movie is due for release on Oct. 28. Take a look at the teaser (courtesy of IGN) below; what do you think of Timberlake in the lead role?

Hard to tell just from the trailer, but JT wasn't bad in "The Social Network," so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and I'd think that Andrew Niccol knows what he's doing.
On a shallow note, woah, how gorgeous is Matt Bomer. Beautiful man.
