Coheed and Cambria bassist arrested for robbing pharmacy before show
Drug addiction is a scary, scary thing, kids.If you're not familiar with Coheed and Cambria, they're currently on tour with Soundgarden, and they're actually pretty successful -- definitely successful enough that you wouldn't expect them to resort to armed robbery.
And yet... the band's bassist, Michael Todd, who goes by "Mic," was busted over the weekend for alleged armed robbery of a Walgreens. According to TMZ, he showed a pharmacist a note on his cell phone that said he had a bomb, and the pharmacist handed over six bottles of Oxycontin... also known as hillbilly heroin.
Todd then made a getaway in a taxi. He didn't factor in the part where taxis can be traced by the dispatcher, and the police caught up with him at the arena where Coheed and Cambria was due to open up for Soundgarden that night. He was identified by the cab driver, the pharmacist... and the store security camera.
Todd was charged with armed robbery and unlawful possession of prescription narcotics. He was held on $10,000 bail and arraigned this morning.

Wow, that's surprising. True story, I lived a block down the street from Claudio in Valley Cottage, NY back in 2001. They were still playing the Piermont bars at that time. Never knew the bassist, but Claudio's grand father talked good of him. Sad indeed that this is what drugs do to good people.
