Casey Anthony found not guilty in murder trial
Casey Anthony was found innocent Tuesday (July 5) in the death of her daughter, Caylee, in 2008.Anthony was convicted of giving false statements to police, but those were the least of the charges against her and carry the least amount of prison time.
The jury deliberated for about 11 hours over two days before returning its verdict. Several broadcast networks and the cable news channels all carried the announcement of the verdict live.
Anthony, 25, was accused of killing 2-year-old Caylee in June 2008, then burying her body in the woods near her home in Orlando, Fla. The defense claimed that the child accidentally drowned and Casey panicked and disposed of the body.
The case has been the subject of intense media coverage from the time Caylee was announced as missing, with heavy scrutiny on Casey's actions around the time of Caylee's disappearance -- in particular the fact that she didn't report her daughter missing for 31 days. A key piece of evidence during the trial was three pieces of duct tape found in the nose and mouth area when Caylee's remains were discovered.
In addition to first-degree murder, Anthony was charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child, aggravated child abuse and four counts of giving false information to police.
A sentencing hearing on the false-statements charges will begin later in the week. Each count carries a maximum sentence of a year in prison.

Thanks to the jury. I am so sick of Nancy Grace and others like her presuming guilt and sitting on high horses. Great job defense team.
She was found not guilty, not innocent..there is a big difference. Not guilty means that they didn't have enough evidence in the case to prove she did it--it doesn't mean the jury thought she didn't do it...
Brandon, I think you are a lil dilusional, The jury finding her not guilty means exactly that they thought she was innocent of the charge of murder. I think you need to open a book.
Apparently, murder is okay in America. This is insanity.
Thanks Jury !
Also people need to realize she was only found not guilty of first degree murder, which simply means she did not plan and murder the child.
not enough eveidence?
the web search of chloroform
the fact she did NOT tell of her child missing
the tape residue on babies mouth
the hair in trunk of her car
the smell of death
all the lies she told her mom...
that the hell did this judge and jury need? an actual video tape of her doing it?
i know if my baby died or disappeared i woudnt be partying like a rock star...
the justice system of today sucks...sad this poor baby had to die the way she did and then get no peace ....
If this was Texas, she would already be strapped to the table for the injection.
To quote another source:
"The deceased little girl can take some comfort in knowing that absolutely nobody murdered her."
The headline needs to be changed...she was not found INNOCENT. She was found NOT GUILTY. This is what happens when anyone can write a blog.
While I am convinced that she killed her child, I think that the prosecution failed to prove that she planned and committed the murder. There was no definitive evidence to connect Casey to the murder of her daughter. It was purely circumstancial.
