Box Office: Chris Evans' 'Captain America' defeats 'Harry Potter' Friday night

The superhero has beaten the wizard - at least on Friday night, according to estimates. "Captain America: The First Avenger," starring Chris Evans earned $25 million Friday, which includes the $4 million from midnight showings.

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2" took in a respectable $16 million, which puts it over the $225 million mark domestically for its first week in release. Worldwide, "Harry Potter" is fast approaching $500 million.

The Justin Timberlake-Mila Kunis rom-com "Friends with Benefits" had a very decent $7 million first-day earning. Earlier this year, the similarly-plotted "No Strings Attached" starring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher also opened to roughly $7 million for its first day in release. We suggest a follow-up to both movies, a la "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice."
