Betty Ford Center: A much classier 'Celebrity Rehab'

With the passing of former First Lady Betty Ford, we can't help but think of one of her most lasting accomplishments: destigmitizing drug and alcohol addiction with the Betty Ford Center.

Founded in 1982, after her own public battle with alcohol and painkillers, the Rancho Mirage, CA, facility has become one of the most prominent names in rehabilitation. And because of it's repute, it's drawn a very famous clientele over the years.

Robert Downey Jr., Drew Barrymore and Lindsay Lohan have all checked in to in-patient programs at Betty Ford. And iconic actors and actress, such as Elizabeth Taylor, Tony Curtis and Robert Mitchum, all spent time at the clinic during its early years in the '80s.

Not all alums of Betty Ford have been fared well -- Anna Nicole Smith, who died of combined drug intoxication in 2007, first checked in a decade earlier -- but success stories have far outnumbered the failures.
