'American Idol': Pia Toscano signs with Interscope Records
Remember that times "American Idol" fans were outraged when early favorite Pia Toscano was eliminated early on in Season 10, placing ninth? Fret not, Pia fans. Your girl is doing just fine.Toscano has officially signed a recording deal with Interscope Records, "Idol" mentor Jimmy Iovine's label, THR reports. Toscano's debut single "This Time" will be released on July 12, and she will he performing the song during the "American Idols Live! Tour this summer. Her debut album will hit stores later this year.
"This Time" is an acoustic guitar and beat-driven track from Esther Dean, who has written Rihanna's hit songs "Rude Boy," "S&M" and "What's My Name."
"I am thrilled to be joining the Interscope and 19 Recordings family," Toscano says in a statement. "Jimmy Iovine was an amazing mentor during my time on 'Idol' and I'm looking forward to working with him and everyone at Interscope Records and 19 Recordings. This is a dream come true."
