'X-Men: First Class' midnight screenings earn $3.4 million
Mutant and proud."X-Men: First Class" is off to a great start at the box office -- the origins film pulled in an estimated $3.4 million in midnight runs, THR reports. This tally puts the action flick on par with Marvel's other superhero film "Thor," which earned $3.3 million from midnight screenings.
FOX is predicting "X-Men: First Class" will pull in anywhere from $48 million to $55 million over the weekend. Others are setting their sights a bit higher -- $60 million or more. If "First Class" stays on track with "Thor," the number could reach or surpass $65 million.
"X-Men: First Class" stars James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender as Charles (Professor X) and Erik (Magneto). Up-and-comers Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Lucas Till and Zoe Kravitz also star.
