Tracy Morgan to meet with gay youth; Speaks out on same-sex equality

tracy-morgan-getty-images.jpgTracy Morgan is trying to prove that actions speak louder than words.

The "30 Rock" star and comedian has come under fire from colleagues, gay rights organizations and the general public after spewing off several homophobic jokes during a Nashville, TN stand-up show last week. Though he has apologized profusely for his remarks, Morgan is now stepping into action.

The actor tells E! News that later this week, he will meet with gay youth who have been shunned by their own families as a result of their sexuality, as well as family members of those who lost their lives to anti-gay violence. Next week, he will travel to Tennessee with GLAAD in protest of the recently passed "Don't Say Gay" bill, which prohibits discussion of homosexuality in public schools before the ninth grade.

"I know how bad bullying can hurt," Morgan explains. "I was bullied when I was a kid. I'm sorry for what I said. I didn't mean it. I never want to use my comedy to hurt anyone. My family knew what it was like to feel different. My brother was disabled and I lost my father to AIDS in 1987.

"My dad wasn't gay, but I also learned about homophobia then because of how people treated people who were sick with that," he continues. "Parents should support and love their kids no matter what. Gay people deserve the same right to be happy in this country as everyone else. Our laws should support that."

In an interview with Global Grind, the "Saturday Night Live" alum also sets the record straight on his joke about what he would do if his son came out as gay.

"The truth is if I had a gay son, I would love him just as much as if he was straight," he says. "I might have to try to love even more because I know the difficulty that he would have in society."

Again, Morgan details his view on same-sex equality during the interview.

"Of all the sicknesses, there is probably none more abusive than homophobia. My heart is committed to giving everyone the same rights that I deserve for myself," he continues. "I don't care if you love the same sex as long as you have the ability to love someone. Also, you should have the right no matter who you are to protect and serve our country."

What do you think? Will Morgan earn your forgiveness, or were his jokes too far out to come back from?

The Media and the Democrats are obssessed with the GAY agenda if only they were obsessed with saving the COUntry from Obama and Financial Collapse.

If I have to hear one more moron harp on and on about a "gay agenda," I'm gonna lose my schitt. What utter nonsense. If being accepted and obtaining equal rights qualifies as an "agenda," then fine. Burnsides right wing idiots make it out as if we want to take over the world and put heterosexuals into slavery.

Obama Media never mentions Gay Black or Latino Republicans cause it doesn't fit their Agenda.

I'd love that apology: "I'd like to apologize to you queers. I'm going to get you pregnant... I need a drink."

Then he'll visit some bathouses and the Blue Oyster Bar to apologize.

Wow! His apology is genuine and heartfelt. I am a fan of Tracy's. By the way, the financial collapse was caused by Bush and his Republican agenda. It never surprises me that Republicans never admit to failure and are quick to blame the Democrats. 8 years of bad policy cannot be fixed in 2 years, no matter how hard Obama tries.

If they just made it that gays had more rights than straight people, the Republicans would be defeated and we could all be Gay and be Islamic Jihadist, then there would be peace. I hate my own family for being hetrosexual and would gladly go gay because I hate myself almost I do my stupid breeder children. ALLAH GAY!!

Hi, I'm Steve the massive tool.

Well it looks like Tracy Morgan has hopped on the Gay Agenda Express.

I doubt Morgan's trip to Tennessee will be of much value. Between his monologue, which most people with a brain saw as an exaggeration, and his complete embrace of all things gay I doubt many people is going to take him seriously period.

Politicians have to deal with fickle voters. I doubt they are going to waste much time on an entertainer who goes from one extreme to the other in a matter of a few weeks.

Perhaps this whole thing was orchestrated by some gay activists. Let's see...the activists show up on TV expressing hurt and outrage at an unrecorded "comedy" bit, the PC entertainment crowd rushes to condemn one of their own, and then the performer "sees the light" and comes out in favor of all things gay and becomes an evangelist for the gay agenda. This is nothing but a con job.

He made some crass homosexual jokes and now he's bullied to becoming an advocate to save his job.
That's the story at the end of the day.
People should just go back to avoiding the issue vocally and speak with votes and dollars like they used to. That's what I do.
