Trace Adkins loses house in fire, singer's family is OK

trace-adkins-gi.jpgCountry singer Trace Adkins' home in Tennessee was destroyed in a fire Saturday (June 4), but no one in the house at the time was hurt.

Adkins, his wife, Rhonda, and their children ahd lived in the 5,000-square-foot mansion in Brentwood, Tenn., a Nashville suburb, for 11 years. It caught fire shortly after 3:30 p.m. CT Saturday and although firefighters were on the scene within a few minutes, the home was a "total loss," the Tennessean reports.

"I'm just numb," Rhonda Adkins tells the newspaper. "I'm sad because we lost irreplaceable things like all Trace's awards and our family photos."

Adkins, a four-time Grammy nominee and former "Celebrity Apprentice" contestant, was flying to Alaska Saturday for a fishing trip. Wire reports say that when he landed, he immediately caught another flight home. Rhonda Adkins says she was driving home from Atlanta Saturday afternoon and was about 10 minutes from home when a neighbor called her about the fire.

The couple's two youngest children, ages 9 and 6, and houseguests who were watching the kids escaped the house unharmed, as did the family pets.

The fire started in the garage, but its cause is currently unknown.
