Tom Hanks' company announces 'American Idiot,' 'Major Matt Mason,' 'American Gods' projects

Tom Hanks' Playtone Production Company is gearing up for some big new projects, Playtone partner Gary Goetzman (pictured above with Hanks) tells THR. The first is "Major Matt Mason," a screenplay written by Hanks that the company is in talks with Robert Zemeckis to produce. "Major" is based on a Mattel action figure and will be a live-action 3D movie about a family's space travel adventures.
The second project is "American Gods," a new open-ended series for HBO that will debut no earlier than 2013. At this time, the plan is to have six seasons, with each season having 10-12 episodes. The plots will center around figures from many religions - Greek and Nordic gods, even the capital-G God from Christianity - living in the contemporary United States. Goetzman promises the show will be heavy on the special effects.
"Gods" will be based on the award-winning book by Neil Gaiman of the same name. In Gaiman's world, gods exist because people believe in them. Which means in this day and age, gods have sprung up that reflect technology, drugs, media and celebrity.
Finally, the Green Day musical "American Idiot" is going to get the big screen treatment. Michael Mayer is slated to direct and Billie Joe Armstrong is slated to reprise his Broadway St. Jimmy role. The movie is tentatively planned for a 2013 release.

I really think they should make American Idiot first of all. Well at least Billie is going to be in it and also I hope they capture the real escence and story of that awesome album. Green Day is great and they deserve that movie.

If you read the description of the main charecter in American Gods it's almost as if Gaimen is describing Duane "the rock"Johnson.
Why can't some of these movie stars who are now producers get smart and share the wealth by finding some people in the world who are just barely making ends meat (trying to stay a float in this economy) and let them into the movie industry, some people out here, like myself, may have great ideas for certain movies and you never know it may be all those involved, next box office hit. I believe I even have a hit but who's listening to me anyway I'm not rich and famous like they are so what do I count to them NOTHING that's what well maybe oneday b4 I pass I will have it on the screen. So hold on peeps it could happen!!!
Tom Hanks admitted he HAS NOT EVEN READ AMERICAN GODS. Gaiman and his writing partner are SCIENTOLOGISTS! Tom Hanks and his wife Rita are naive idiots being played. The Scientology blog network is pushing the Turkey, piece of crap novel American God's hard to try and influence Hanks. It's all a lie.
