'The Hunger Games' takes a 'Twilight,' 'Harry Potter' cue
If the formula works -- why change it? The highly anticipated "Hunger Games" series will be following in the footsteps of its tween fantasy predecessors "Harry Potter" and "The Twilight Saga" by splitting one of its installments into a two part series.
The trilogy will be relayed into a four films, E! News reports. If it truly does take a cue from "HP" and "Twilight," that could mean the final book ("Mockingjay") would be divided into a "Part I" and "Part II." The exact story breakdown has not yet been confirmed, so any creative theories are mere speculation at this point.
What do you think of four "Hunger Games" flicks instead of three? Exciting -- we know -- but we're still waiting to see the first one before getting too amped. It'll hit theaters in March of 2012.

The more Hunger Games the better, as far as I'm concerned! Just gives them more liberty to do the books justice :)
As long as the book being split actually is formatted to make the split work. The Hobbit is a 3-hour film being padded extensively (making it virtually Lord of the Rings 4) to justify 2 movies.
I'd rather they announce they were making all the Hunger Game movies back to back. There's always a danger the first Hunger Game movie could end up joining the ranks of Golden Compass, A Series of Unfortunate Events - even Atlas Shrugged - as incomplete adaptations.
Hopefully the first one doesn't get screwed up so that there will be sequels.
I hope HG beats Twilight. But, if HG beats HP a lot of people will be upset because Harry Potter is just better... series like Lord of the Rings or Star Wars are better than HP though. But I still love HP more than HG because it changed my life.
