'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' poster: No dragon tattoo, but lots of Rooney Mara

girl-with-the-dragon-tattoo-poster.jpgThe tagline isn't as good as the one in the trailer, but the poster for "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" is pretty arresting nonetheless.

The black-and-white image shows us a whole lot of Rooney Mara, who plays the title character in David Fincher's movie, which is based on the best-selling novel by Stieg Larsson. The dragon tattoo isn't apparent -- it's described in the book as being on Lisbeth Salander's left shoulder blade -- but pretty much all of her torso is.

Daniel Craig, who plays Mikael Blomkvist in the film, provides the only cover for Mara's upper body in the stark black-and-white poster, which has the tagline "Evil shall with evil be expelled." That's not quite as catchy as "the feel-bad movie of Christmas," but it's good and foreboding.

As the poster says, "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" opens on Dec. 21.
