Shania Twain receives Hollywood Walk of Fame star

After numerous awards (including five Grammys), eight No. 1 hits and an album, the 1997 offering "Come on Over," that became the top-selling album of all time by a female in any genre, Shania Twain can now add a Hollywood Walk of Fame star to her impressive resume.The Walk of Fame website announced that Thursday (June 2) at 11:30 a.m. PT, Twain will receive her star outside the W Hotel on Hollywood Blvd, with actress Bo Derek serving as the guest speaker.
Twain has not been doing much singing lately, as instead she has been healing after her husband's infidelity, which is part of what she writes about in her memoir "From This Moment On." The memoir also touches on her childhood poverty, the loss of her parents in a terrible accident and her rise to music super-stardom. Shania has also said she will sing again, "absolutely."
Congratulations to Shania on her Walk of Fame star!

Wow that comment was extremely unintelligent. First, many people not associated with Hollywood have received stars. What relation does Chick Hearn have with Hollywood besides the fact that he was the long time voice of the Lakers. What about Magic Johnson? Second, the stars are given for movies, music, TV, radio, or theater, of which she is clearly qualified. Third, a selection fee is required for each and ever star nomination. You sir, are truly a moron.
I agree with Superman. The Hollywood Walk of Fame originally was reserved for movie star legends, not any loser with money to burn. Twain's "star" will just be another "stain" on the walk of fame.
Wow, First of all Shania was nominated for teh star 3 years ago! it's now that she finally got around to accepting the honor! She didn't purchase anything! If you ignorant people did your research you would also realize that the star reprisents "star power" and Shania has more then many of the people that have recieved stars before!
Unbelievable. Exactly HOW should she be ineligible? Not by birth, not by talent, not by success, and certainly not by fame. She is one of the biggest stars IN THE WORLD, not just Canada and your small-minded country.
And to the in-no-way-Superman, remember the quote from the Book Of George: "Thou shalt keep thy religious beliefs TO THYSELF!"

Lou, Not all of us are "small minded" in the States. Most of us are regular good guys (or gals) ;). Idiots (like Superman and Tmz... whatever) that make stupid comments on sites to intentionally stir up crap with fans...well not sure you could really even find a brain in either. This yank would like to congratulate a woman that worked hard, overcame tremendous obstacles and went on to live her dream... to sing for many adoring fans. Congratulations Shania. You deserve it girl. S & T...can kiss her Hollywood hiney.
