Ryan O'Neal thinks he may have caused Farrah Fawcett's cancer

ryan-oneal-piers-morgan.jpgRyan O'Neal has been making the media rounds lately in support of his series on OWN, "Ryan & Tatum: The O'Neals," which premiered Sunday (June 19). If the goal is to attract attention, then his appearance on "Piers Morgan Tonight" Monday certainly did the job.

But what he said? Wow. O'Neal told Morgan that he believes the problems he and his children had may have contributed to his long-time love, Farrah Fawcett, contracting cancer.

"There was turmoil during my love affair with Farrah, a lot of it caused by my family, by my kids -- all of them, but particularly Tatum," he tells Morgan. "And I just think if she had never met us, would she still be alive today? Because nobody knows what causes cancer, do they?" ... She didn't smoke, she didn't drink, she exercised every day, and she believed in good health. And then we came along, the four of us. And gradually she got -- she got weaker. I don't know."

Morgan points out that that's an awfully "harsh" thing to lay at the feet of his daughter (and OWN co-star) and himself. "Sorry, Tatum -- but you probably know too," is O'Neal's answer.

"But it's not Tatum," O'Neal adds after a pause. "I was the catalyst. I was the one that had to keep everybody happy, and I wasn't able to do it."

Video of O'Neal's -- what? Confession? Revelation? Self-flagellation? -- is below. What do you think of what he said?

His comments make him look like a jerk.I wonder if he is one.

Please, Ryan: dont blame it on your daughter! The burden of guilt is something that most of us feel after a family member has passed away. - But it was not your fault, and certainly not Tatum`s.

I think he feels guilty for all of what his life has been about. One cant help it when we fall in love and it is hard on the children..that is a sacrifice. Tatum is an adult and she needs to own up to her part, as does her dad..then they need to forgive one another and make the most of what is left of their lives. Not everyone gets a second or third or even fouth chance. Putting their lives on tv...not sure it is a good idea but will give them money..I have always liked Ryan and Tatum...I hope they can pull it together..I do pray for them..

God this guy is an idiot.. she died from HPV-17, the cancer causing papilloma virus.. took it one too many times in the *** and got the virus in there.. Good reason to get the vaccine. .men get throat cancer from eating *****.. women get it from giving head.. and cervical cancer from sex.. nasty nasty bug.. get the vaccination and be safe.

Ryan thinks the dominate problems in her life - what with being an eleven-year-old addict and all - could not have been real, else she would not have achieved the status, making five or six movies, that she gained beyond that point.

As a previous commenter pointed out, she got cancer from buttsecks with him. Ryan most certainly knows this but for some reason doesn't want to talk about anal on national TV. Maybe Farrah never wanted to do it that way in the first place and only gave in to please him.

Wow - Ryan is a tool, but you people are just vile and disgusting.

I'm with Paul on this one.

Anal cancer in most cases, if not all, is a sexually transmitted cancer (HPV).

Ryan O'Neal !!! He is still doing and saying anything to stay in the news spotlight.
