Rep. Anthony Weiner seeks professional treatment, requests leave of absence

Representative Anthony Weiner has requested a leave of absence from the U.S. House of Representatives while he gets professional treatment to focus on "becoming a better husband and healthier person," a spokeswoman for the congressman tells the AP.Spokeswoman Risa Heller says Weiner wants a leave of absence so he can be evaluated and work out a course of treatment, though the statement does not specify what Weiner will be treated for.
This has all stemmed from a lewd photo of Congressman Weiner sent to a 21-year-old woman via Twitter, subsequent "sexts" and sexual Facebook messages. Weiner initially claimed his Twitter account was hacked, but has since recanted that. It has also come to light that his wife Huma Abedin is pregnant with the couple's first child.
The Facebook message content was not generally released in news outlets because it was too salacious to print, but Friday night (June 10) on "Real Time with Bill Maher," the statements were read in a dramatic reenactment by Bill and "Glee" actress Jane Lynch. It was hysterical and can be viewed here (WARNING: adult language).

This is ridiculous, as our most of the posters here. Yes, Weiner did cheat on his wife, and I certainly don't condone that. But first, he's not a pedophile. She is 21-years-old. And if you read the text messages, or listened to the "re-enactment" on Bill Maher, it's clear she knew exactly what she was doing. She was leading him on -- she wanted to meet with him, then she wanted him to call her and have phone sex, then ASKED for a picture. He may be unethical to put it mildly, but what about her? She was clearly setting him up. She released the photo... if he had called her that night, she would have released the audio recording... and if they'd met, I'm sure we'd be seeing video. I can't believe the nerve of anyone here who suggests he took advantage of a young girl and actually refer to Weiner as a "pedophile." The views expressed here are just as warped as those coming from the so-called "Obama-Media." Fools.
What was on his mind to think that a 21 yr. old really wanted him. No amount of therapy will turn a low down dirty cheater into a better husband.
Probably the only difference between him quite a few other members of Congress is that he go caught. I bet the other members are just being more careful about when and where they fool around.
One of the girls he was communicating with was only 17. The 21 yo was not the only one. There were several. He already said he didn't know how many of them were minors.
