'Man of Steel': Julia Ormond in talks to play Superman's mother

It's time to meet the parents.

"Man of Steel," Zack Snyder's reboot of the Superman franchise, has completed its casting process. Deadline reports that an official offer has been made to Julia Ormond to play Superman's Kryptonian mother, Lara Lor-Van.

Russell Crowe was recently cast as Jor-El, Superman's biological father.  Kevin Costner and Diane Lane will play Superman's adoptive parents, John and Martha Kent. Also starring in the film are Henry Cavill (Clark Kent/Superman) Amy Adams (Lois Lane) and Michael Shannon (Zod).

"Man of Steel" hits theaters December 2012.
