John Edwards allegedly asked Heiress Rachel 'Bunny' Mellon for millions before his indictment

ABC News is reporting that a few weeks before John Edwards was charged in a six-count felony indictment for the misuse of campaign funds, the former Democratic presidential candidate met with banking heiress Rachel "Bunny" Mellon and requested money from her. An unnamed source with knowledge of the situation tells ABC News that
Edwards' request was for millions, but he or she would not
discuss why Edwards was seeking the money.Mellon is currently at the center of the criminal case against Edwards, as she allegedly provided more than $700,000 in 2008 to help hide Edwards' mistress Rielle Hunter and subsequent love child Quinn.
William Taylor, Mellon's attorney, was present at the May 26 lunch meeting and says it was a personal, social visit. He also tells the AP there "was no discussion of anything related to [Edwards'] situation."
Over the years Mellon has been a strong supporter of Edwards' campaigns for president, giving more than $4 million total to various groups and organizations connected to the campaign. One of her attorney's, Alex Forger, has alleged that Mellon did not know how her money was being used, in reference to the concealment of Rielle Hunter and the child.
ABC News has not determined if the latest meeting between Mellon and Edwards did, in fact, result in her giving him more money, but if a monetary gift were made, it would not be illegal, it just wouldn't look very good since she may be called to testify against him. And one of Edwards' conditions of his release from custody was that he have no further contact with Rachel Mellon. The meeting in question happened prior to the indictment, so Edwards is perfectly legal there.

Isn't John Edwards rich? I guess he needed to "borrow" the hush money to keep his late wife from finding out!
Why is this anyone's business and what is the relevance to anything legal. Why not move off of this and focus on some of the country's real issues.
John Edwards, is digusting addig to what he has donr,he really sank even lower by bringing his oldest daughter with him to news statement. This absolutely has nothing to do with the American public. John Edwards made his mistakes and as we all can see, he's paying dearly. For sure he had a pocket full of money maybe before all of this started, but after the baby scandal, the lawyers involved, the wife and her medical problems, and the fact that any money from his wife's estate is going to the kids, he is probably flat broke. But again, this is his bed to lay in, the American public has nothing to do with who Mrs. Mellow gives her money to as a friend. I do feel though if he used anonymous donations, then there should be an investigation and he should have to pay restitution for what ever wrong he did. 6 Felonies, wow! he can have that.
Why does Zip care about John Edwards, he is not a celebrity. He is a former politician. If you are talking about Edwards, you might as well talk about the Newt, Ensign and the rest of the cheating republicans,who keep their jobs even with their wrong doings and preaching morals, when they have none.
I will bet that he doesn't grin like a donkey and get all excited now if he sees/thinks about Ms. Hunter. Turn out the lights; the party's over.
Edwards case has nothing to do about him being a Democrat or Republican. this is about a man who has no morals or principles and who will screw anyone to get ahead. I have no sympathy for him. Could not care less what happens to him. HE IS A FRAUD.
Edwards is a P.O.S. lying politician and deserves to be punished. It is sad and pathetic that people like Cindy are willing to give him a pass! We need to hold ALL politicians accountable for thier misdeeds!!
