Jerry Seinfeld not bothered by 'Marriage Ref' divorce beef
One of the very first contestants on "The Marriage Ref" is now blaming creator/panelist Jerry Seinfeld for the end of his marriage. Seinfeld himself, however, doesn't seem to have a lot of sympathy.Howie Kohlenberg appeared with his then-wife, Christine, on the NBC show's first episode last year (Season 2 debuted on Sunday). The couple was hoping to get some free publicity for Manhattan spa, but instead, he says the show caused Christine to leave him and their 4-year-old son in search of fame.
"The people on the show were pumping us up, saying, 'You're going to wake up and be stars. You're going to be famous and make money,'" Kohlenberg tells the New York Post. "... I'm not saying our marriage was perfect, but it put it in a whole new direction. It was the nail in the coffin."
"Jerry, Mr. Billionaire, I blame. And his show," Kohlenberg says.
Seinfeld is brushing off the former contestant's complaint, though. "When people get upset I enjoy it," Seinfeld tells the New York Daily news. "That he's having problems, and blaming me, it's all -- anything that alleviates the withering, blithering boredom of existence I'm in favor of."
So, OK, if you're appearing on a show called "The Marriage Ref," maybe you shouldn't be surprise if the relationship goes south at some point. But Seinfeld's publicist initially declined to comment for the Post story, and we're thinking that might have been a good course of action for him to follow too. What do you think?

I think what Jerry said is idiotic and conceited. I doubt the now divorced guy has a case, but what Jerry said was inconsiderate, egotistical, and just stupid.
It's ridiculous that the contestant wants to be compensated because his already-teetering marriage went off the rails, but that comment from Seinfeld comes off as incredibly smug. I'd like to see how he said it, because he may have been joking. I hear he used to do that for a living.
He's clearly joking.
Of course it's his fault...he has money and they want some. Lawsuit coming next, just wait and see.
Jerry comes off like an a-hole saying what he did. I hope he was joking...for his sake...because karma is a b*tch!
@UM, JUST SAYIN & REALLY? The reason Seinfeld is laughing is because, unlike you IMBECILES, he realizes that if this guy could have saved his marriage, he would have. YOU HAVE TO BE A COMPLETE IDIOT TO THINK THAT YOUR WIFE DECIDED SHE DIDN'T WANT TO REMAIN MARRIED TO YOU BECAUSE OF SOME ADVICE ON A REALITY/ENTERTAINMENT SHOW. There's a reason his wife left him, you idiots. THAT'S WHY SEINFELD IS BEING A PRICK ABOUT IT, BECAUSE HE REALIZES THAT THIS GUY IS SUCH A DOUCHE SHE WAS LEAVING HIM, REGARDLESS. But I guess you two are yet another example as to why America is laughed. YOU HAVE NO COMMON SENSE. Do the world a favor and commit suicide. I FREAKING HATE LOW INTELLIGENCE.
Personally the show is a bomb all by itself. I'm surprised that Jerry has anything to do with it at all.
Hey Jersey scum(bag), I bet my IQ is higher than yours?? Hahaha, lmao.....
but anyway, mean is worse than stupid.......
