Ja Rule heads to prison for New York gun conviction
Ja Rule is headed to prison Wednesday (June 8) afternoon, six months after he pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon.In 2007, the 35-year-old rapper was arrested after police stopped him for speeding and found a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun in his Maybach luxury sedan.
On Tuesday, he tweeted a goodbye to his fans, writing that he planned to spend a few of his last hours of freedom seeing the new "X Men: First Class" movie with his family.

The rapper, real name Jeffrey Atkins, is also leaving fans with a brand new album, "Pain is Love 2," according to the Huffington Post.
