Haley Joel Osment sees more dead people: So where has he been, anyway?

haley-joel-gi.jpgEveryone's favorite creepy kid, "The Sixth Sense" star Haley Joel Osment, is back, and this time, he's a creepy grown up! Osment, now 23 (yes, you're old), has signed on to star in "Wake the Dead," an adaptation of Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" based on a series of graphic novels by Steven Niles.

CNN reports that Osment, who has grown up to vaguely resemble Dawson Leery, will play "Victor Franklin, a college student morbidly experimenting with the limits of human death." Sounds gruesome.

But where has our favorite I-see-dead-people kid been since we last saw him in films like "Pay It Forward" and "Secondhand Lions"? He's been growing up.

Osment made the news in 2006 when he was charged with a DUI when he flipped his car and had to be rushed to the hospital for a shoulder injury and a broken rib. Just 18, with a blood alcohol level over twice the legal limit for the 21+ crowd, it didn't look good -- especially after officers found marijuana on him.

After a rehab stint and some time in AA, Osment got his life together. Since his last high profile movie, he's done a few small films and plenty of voice work for the popular video game series, "Kingdom Hearts." He's also earned himself a degree from NYU, and booked a role in the upcoming comedy "Sassy Pants."

That's the kind of comeback we like to write about.

Good for Haley, I'm glad he was able to get over any issues he had! Great actor, can't wait to see what he's like older.

@SaraB - I agree...good for him. I also like his sister Emily.

Ahahahahahahaha, Dawson Leery! That's hysterical and true!
