Dakota Fanning graduates from high school

dakota-fanning.jpgOn Monday (June 7), just like a real teenager, Dakota Fanning donned a cap and gown to receive her high school diploma. Fanning, 17, graduated from the North Hollywood private high school Campbell Hall at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, according to Us Weekly.

Despite working steadily through her childhood and teens, Fanning was able to maintain a somewhat normal life away from movie sets. At school, she was a member of the varsity cheerleading squad and was even (surprise surprise) crowned Homecoming Queen two years in a row.

"I think it was really important to have the high school experience," said Fanning on "Today" in 2010. " I just think everyone always looks back on that time in their life. Who was homecoming princess and [did] the cheerleading ... and all the things that go along with high school? And I wanted to have that. I'm really lucky that I found a school that allows me to do both."

The "Twilight" actress plans to enroll at New York University in the fall.
