Zach Braff to join 'Oz' as James Franco's assistant

zach-braff-gi.jpgDisney's "Oz: The Great and Powerful" is coming together with James Franco signed on in the title role and now, according to Deadline, Zach Braff in final negotiations to join the 3D adventure.

Braff has reportedly landed the role of Frank, the loyal and under-appreciated assistant to Franco's Oz. Also starring in the flick are Mila Kunis as Theodora the witch, Michelle Williams as Glinda and Rachel Weisz as Evanora.

The Sam Raimi directed film will be a "Wonderful Wizard of Oz" prequel, as told from the Wizard's point of view. It will chronicle his arrival in the great land of Oz and how he became the ruler.

The film is expected to hit theaters March 8, 2013 with shooting scheduled to begin this July in Michigan.

What do you think of the casting thus far? If we weren't already super excited for a new twist on one of our favorite classic tales, this casting sure doesn't hurt.
