Will Smith to star in Quentin Tarantino's 'Django Unchained'?

Will Smith is the frontrunner to star in director Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained," a spaghetti western about a slave who teams up with a German bounty hunter (possibly played by "Inglorious Basterds's Christoph Waltz) to search for his wife.

Samuel L. Jackson has also been mentioned for a role in the project, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Smith's reps are reportedly reviewing the screenplay, but no formal offer has been made yet.
