'Titanic' gets a 3D re-release in April 2012

leo-kate-titanic.jpgIs the world ready for three dimensions of the most romantic on-screen couple of all time?

"Titanic" stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet recently earned said honor courtesy of a poll conduced by ABC and People Magazine. Now, their iconic James Cameron directed flick will return to theaters around the world in 3D on April 6, 2012. Coincidentally -- or not -- the release will coincide with the 100th anniversary of the ship's sinking (April 15, 1912).

"There's a whole generation that's never seen 'Titanic' as it was meant to be seen, on the big screen," Cameron says. "And this will be 'Titanic' as you've never seen it before, digitally remastered at 4K and painstakingly converted to 3D. With the emotional power intact and the images more powerful than ever, this will be an epic experience for fans and newcomers alike."

Upon its original 1997 release, the film was nominated for an unprecedented 11 Academy Awards and the film remains the second-highest-grossing movie of all time, behind Cameron's "Avatar."

OMG! What? Win the iceberg hits it'll be 3-d? What.Ever!

I get no enjoyment out of 3-D movies. They take me out of the experience and are uncomfortable to watch. Plus I find it more than a little tasteless that such a gimmicky product would be released on the anniversary. I know the original movie was criticized for trivializing the disaster, and I've actually defended the film many times. But it's on its own as far as this 3-D thing goes.

Call me ridiculous, but I honestly cannot wait. This film was superb and I am so excited to see it in theaters again. Watching films in theaters is truly all about the experience. And since I was so young when it was first released, I feel I can better appreciate it now.

You may or may not like the Jack and Rose story, but the rest of the film is very powerful. Not sure about seeing it in 3D, as it was not shot that way, but is being converted after the fact.

I can't wait to see it again at the movies but I'm not sure about the whole 3D thing..I never really like 3D movies...i guess well see

Sadly, we do not have the technology to add any dimensions to the script.

Absolutely cannot wait!!!!! Titanic is my favorite movie ever!! I was only 7 years old when it was first released so I've never been able to enjoy it on the big screen as an adult. I'll have my ticket pre-purchased as soon as they're available in 2012!!!

I'm SO excited! Titanic is my FAVORITE movie of ALL time! :D

can't wait!
