Tiger Woods pulls out of Players Championship after knee injury

tiger-woods-players.jpgTiger Woods may (or may not) be getting his personal life back on track, but his professional game is still far from where it was.

Woods was forced to withdraw from the Players Championship on Thursday (May 12) after only nine holes due to a knee injury, the golfer confirms.

"The knee acted up and then the Achilles followed after that, and then the calf started cramping up," he tells the PGA Tour's website. "Everything started getting tight, so it's just a whole chain reaction."

This isn't the first time Woods has been forced to pull out of a competition. Just last year, he exited the very same tournament due to a neck injury. This was his first return to the green since injuring his knee and Achilles during the Masters last month.

"I'm having a hard time walking," Woods continues of the 2011 Players. "I felt good this morning and fine during warm-up and then as I played it got progressively worse." He reportedly walked with a noticeable limp from the opening tee shot up until deciding to call it a day after the ninth hole.
