Princess Beatrice's Royal Wedding fascinator sale raises over $130,000 for charity
It was not only one of the most talked-about aspects of the Royal Wedding back on April 29, but now it is raising money for charity. Princess Beatrice's crazy pink fascinator has sold on Ebay for over $130,000.The final bid was for 81,100.01 British pounds, which is 131,341.47 U.S. dollars. The bidding started at 80,000 British pounds, so it's not like there was some mad bidding war. There were only five bids placed. However, the money will be donated to UNICEF UK and Children in Crisis through Princess Beatrice's Little Bee Initiative.
Beatrice says in the auction description, "I've been amazed by the amount of attention the hat has attracted. It's a wonderful opportunity to raise as much money as possible for two fantastic charities. I hope whoever wins the auction has as much fun with the hat as I have."
And the description goes on to say of the hat, "A unique sculptural celebratory headpiece in delicate tea rose silk, designed by one of the UK's most creative and influential milliners Philip Treacy. A truly individual, fun but elegant wedding box becomes the fascinator form. This statement piece is worn on the front hairline secured by a clear wire headband that is easily disguised by the wearer's hair. This is a gravity defying hat! Happy bidding!"
Fun. The winning bidder is anonymous, but we hope he or she enjoys the hat.

How can you say the the bids started at 80,000 Pounds? On May 18th you reported that the hat was at $29,000. You should check your facts.
i wouldnt have paid 5 cents for it
Amazing... guess, it takes all sorts. That's my polite way of saying...WHAT- ARE THEY NUTS..???? They should give ME the money - they're throwing it away anyway - I know I could make good use with it - like going to Tahiti, or cruising on one of those uppity expensive ships....
