'Obama Bin Laden Dead': FOX News affiliate defends itself for typo

obama-bin-laden-dead-fox40-mistake-550.jpg
In the rush to report the news of Osama Bin Laden's death, a FOX News affiliate in Sacramento should have taken a moment to check its spelling.

Running along the bottom of FOX40's report on the event, the chyron read: "Reports: Obama Bin Laden Dead."

Apparently, some people issued complaints and accusations that it did it on purpose. After all, FOX News has some obvious conservative leanings in its coverage with Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly over at the mother ship.

FOX40 issued an apology (kind of), but not before it defended its mistake by pointing out how easily it could be made and that other news organizations made similar mistakes, including CNN and the Modesto Bee newspaper.

They even threw a fellow FOX affiliate in Washington DC under the bus for its anchor actually saying "President Obama" instead of "Osama Bin Laden" was dead. See video below.

We don't believe FOX40 made the switch on purpose, of course, but we still get a kick out of the very apropos mistake. Giggle.

[Note: FOX40's article originally identified the above video as a San Diego station. Since then, its article has undergone several edits, including a correction that this video came from D.C. We've corrected it above.]

This was worthy of a news posting?

Typical Faux News mistake.

It said Usama

Is FOX News Fair and Unbiased?

You decide...

FOX40 is a Fox station and is not part of FOX news. That is like saying the local NBC affiliate is part of MSNBC. More than likely this being a local news operation in California there is no one who works within a 10 mile radius of the station who has ever voted for a Republican.

Big deal. Some intern at a local affiliate made a typo. So what. Has nothing to do with Fox News Channel. I guess some Lib working for Zap2it just wants to put a petty dig at Fox?

Usama is the official spelling by the FBI and CIA.

Neither Fox News nor any of it's affiliates is a legitimate source of news. Propaganda perhaps...

I'm not surprised. Fox is always making errors. And why would an "intern" be reporting on news this important. LoL. Yea they did it on purpose n r now usin this as a cover up. Typical conservative Republicans over there.

wtf hahhaa that **** is on purpose how do u mistake the B for the S there not even near eachother lmao and how could you say president obama compared to osama bin laden people my 7 year old bro wouldnt even make that mistake hahahah wtf
