Jeff Conaway overdose: Dr. Drew Pinsky 'deeply saddened'

Dr. Drew Pinsky, who once helped Jeff Conaway battle his substance abuse problems on "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew," is "deeply saddened to learn of Jeff's condition," he said in a statement. "My thoughts and prayers are with Jeff and his family."Conaway is currently in a coma at an Encino, Calif., hospital after being found unconscious on May 11. It's suspected that Conaway overdosed, though a rep for the actor would not confirm what drugs Conaway may have been using. Conaway is best known for his role as Kenickie in the 1978 movie version of "Grease," though he also logged many years on TV as a member of the "Taxi" cast.
Pinsky, an addiction medicine specialist, has made something of a career of helping celebrities with substance abuse problems. His VH1 show has featured stars -- from Dennis Rodman to Janice Dickinson to Tom Sizemore -- attempting to get or stay clean. But this isn't the only recent tragic news associated with one of Pinsky's former patients.
In March, former Alice in Chains bassist and "Celebrity Rehab"-ber Mike Starr was found dead from an overdose in Utah. In April, Brandon Davis -- another show alum -- was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
Conaway's rep tells the Associated Press that the actor is not expected to recover.

Dr Drew is making a TV career for himself but its too bad that his medical 'expertise' isn't being properly used. He's a fame hog and I don't think he has really helped anyone but himself...
Lord help this guy. My son played his part I'm grease in a highschool play.he is also a drug addict.he is now 39. I just can't fix him.been to rehab 4-5 times so I know it is just the way it goes sometimes.wish Dr drew could try and help my son. Maybe it might take. Never give up.

Pinsky is Jerry Springer with a PHD. He poses as some sort of concerned substance abuse expert while exploiting down and out addicts for TV money and exposure. He's a bum.
Drew Pinsky is such a fraud, can't believe anyone would take his advice. All he cares about is money and fame.
Apparantly none of you have been the care taker of an addict. It looks easy but until youve been there and given your whole self to another person to get them clean and the addict is giving very little to their own recovery and life-DON'T JUDGE! Dr. Drew is not in this for himself-dont watch tv if you dont want to know the truth about life!
