Ginnifer Goodwin, Joey Kern call off engagement

After two years of dating and a brief engagement, Ginnifer Goodwin and actor Joey Kern have called it quits.

The couple announced their engagement last Christmas and just five months later, People reports that they've called the whole thing off. According to a source, Goodwin and Kern "broke up a few weeks ago" but hope to remain friends.

The duo, who were set up by a mutual friend, had planned to tie the knot this fall. We hope the split was amicable and that there was no fiance snatching involved -- like in Goodwin's latest flick, "Something Borrowed."

Kern is perhaps best known for his appearance in 2001's "Super Troopers."
