George W. Bush declines President Obama's Ground Zero invitation
Former president George W. Bush has declined President Barack Obama's invitation to join him at Ground Zero on Thursday, May 5, Reuters reports. President Obama is heading to New York City to meet with the families of 9/11 victims.
Bush's spokesperson David Sherzer says Bush appreciated the invitation but "has chosen in his post-presidency to remain largely out of the spotlight." Sherzer also says Bush will continue to celebrate this victory in the war on terror.
Ground Zero has become a rallying site for Americans after President Obama announced the death of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden on Sunday, May 1. Obama called Bush that night to inform him of the news before making the announcement to the American public.
After Obama announced bin Laden's death, Bush released a statement, saying, "The fight against terror goes on, but tonight America has sent an unmistakable message: No matter how long it takes, justice will be done."

It was classy of the President to invite Bush.
I think it was classy of Mr. Bush to decline.
Mr. Bush decline because he use the war and terror to build up URS where he is the largest stake holder off, so he can not high light himself because of this reason.
No matter what george bush does it's wrong.President Obama could start six wars and people would still see no wrong in him.It's a funny world we live in now.
Bush is of course right to decline this political campaign stop with Obama.
Obama should be working on dozens of other things like: an energy policy, we're paying over $4.00 a gallon at the pump now, more than twice what it was when he came into office, work on a plan to fix the 19%+ under-employment number for last month, not the convenient 9.6% number they actually tout as "good", stop the senseless and plan-less war he started with Qaddafi, present a plan for what he'll do now that UBL was targeted for a "kill hit" after finding him with "enhanced information gathering techniques", work on the massive deficit and entitlement spending he's nearly doubled since entering office 2 1/2 years ago...and for what, where are the jobs those trillions of dollars were spent for???

Obama can't win for losing!! First right-wing nuts deride Obama for NOT giving credit/kudos/acknowledgement to Bush (which, incidentally, Obama DID during his speech last Sunday night). THEN when Obama acknowledges the Bush administration's contribution and invites Bush to ground zero, the right-wing nuts once again deride Obama, accusing his visit as a "political campaign stop." Honestly...it must chap the right-wing nut's ***** to give credit to Obama for getting rid of bin Laden!
