Friday Box Office: 'Thor' strong-arms 'Bridesmaids' for the top spot
Paramount and Marvel Studios' "Thor" held tightly to the No. 1 spot at the Box Office on Friday, keeping in line for a second week of domination. Grossing approximately $9.1 million, the superhero flick brings it's worldwide total over $300 mil. Universal's raunchy anti-chick flick "Bridesmaids" raked in $7.8 million on it's opening night, putting it on track for $21.5 mil for the weekend. Kristin Wiig and Maya Rudolph star in the Paul Feig directed comedy, which earned pleasantly surprising reviews and a B+ CinemaScore from audiences.
"Fast Five," which broke records as Universal's best opening ever at $83.6 million, is still hanging on with $5.9 million on Friday and the No. 3 spot. Trailing just behind at $5.5 million is "Priest 3D." Sony only expected the vampire horror flick to do $10-12 mil on it's opening weekend, but the film, which stars Paul Bettany, is on pace to do more than that with $14 mil.
"Something Borrowed" rounds out the top 5 with $2.3 mil.
