Will Smith, Jaden Smith team up with M. Night Shyamalan for Sci-Fi adventure flick
The unstoppable Smith family is, well, still unstoppable.Proud papa Will Smith is teaming up with son Jaden Smith on the big screen once again in the latest (still untitled) sci-fi adventure helmed by M. Night Shyamalan.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be set 1,000 years in the future and center around a young boy's attempt to navigate an abandoned Earth in order to save himself and his estranged father after their ship crashes.
"The chance to make a scary, science-fiction film starting Jaden and Will is my dream project," Shyamalan gushes.
"Night is an outstanding filmmaker who has a tremendous vision for this science-fiction adventure story and we couldn't be more excited to be working again with Jaden after our experiences on 'The Pursuit of Happyness' and 'The Karate Kid,'" Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures, says. "We're thrilled to have the two of them together on this project."
Jaden stole our hearts in 2006's "The Pursuit of Happyness," when he co-starred with his dad for the very first time. At this point, it would seem too weird to have anyone else play Jaden's dad on screen. Or Will's son, for that matter.
The film is a family affair, with mom Jada Pinkett-Smith signed on to produce the film, alongside Overbrook Entertainment partners, Ken Stovitz and James Lassiter. Now all we need is a little Willow Smith cameo, and we're good to go.

I feel like I've been missing a big Will Smith action flick- July 4th weekend hasn't been quite the same. But...Shyamalan? Not so great lately.
M night has made some crap movies lately soooo not sure how this will go. Just maybe the Smiths can carry it past its junk plot that I assume it will have.
I'll go see it because I'm a fan of Will and Jaden, also like M. Night. BUT I do have a gripe... Will Smith is not doing his son Jaden any favors by them doing this movie together.
If Will wants to help Jaden he needs to make it look like Jaden isn't getting all his acting jobs because of strings he (Will) pulled or only because Will is also in the movie. Jaden needs to find acting jobs on his own, without another person in his family in the movie with him and without Will creating the role for him.
Jaden needs to start making the audition rounds in Hollywood, actually TRY OUT for parts that have zero ties to his family and win roles through his own merit.
The same goes for Will's daughter Willow. I'm hoping and praying the rumored "Annie" remake Will is supposedly currently pushing (with Willow as Annie) does NOT happen.
I know I'm not sounding like a fan of the Smith family, but I am. I just don't agree with their Hollywood tactics. Will has launched his kids careers... now he needs to take a back seat role and quit making it look like they got every job because of him.
Well they are his kids after all and they are just kids. Let Will get his kids jobs for now until they are maybe 17 or 18 then they can be on their own
