Tina Fey tells Oprah a Sarah Palin 2012 campaign would be 'fun'
Oprah Winfrey gathered an unusual group of "Saturday Night Live" alums -- including Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, Dana Carvey, Tracy Morgan and Tina Fey -- for an April 12 reunion special. And in addition to airing the formal Fey pregnancy announcement, the duo rehashed Winfrey's odd role in her iconic Sarah Palin impersonation.
As Fey mentions in her new book, "Bossypants," Winfrey's 2008 guest spot on "30 Rock" was filmed the day Fey first appeared on "Saturday Night Live" as the then vice presidential candidate.
"I was in the dressing room trying to watch YouTube clips of Governor Palin, trying to learn how she talked," says Fey, which Oprah remembers finding quite overwhelming.
"If Oprah Winfrey is telling you that you might be overextending yourself," says Fey, "you need to examine your life."
Moonlighting on "Saturday Night Live" after her departure was a busy time for Fey, but she's not opposed to going back there. When Winfrey asked if she hoped Palin would run for president in 2012, Fey said "kinda" and that playing her again would be "fun."
