Tim Robbins loses both parents in 12 days

Sad news for actor Tim Robbins. His father Gil passed away 12 days ago at the age of 80 after a battle with prostate cancer. Now the AP is reporting that Tim's mother Mary has died at her home in Esteban Cantu, Mexico of a heart arrhythmia. She was 78 years old.

Tim's parents were married for 59 years. Wow. They were both musicians - Gil was a member of 1960s folk band The Highwaymen and Mary studied music at UCLA and performed professional in the 1950s.

Robbins tells the AP his mother "had a calm and cheerful demeanor, a sharp wit, a gentle spirit and a generous and loving heart."

Mary and Gil are survived by four children (Tim, Adele, Gabrielle and David) and four grandchildren, including Tim's two sons with Susan Sarandon, Jack, 21, and Miles, 18.
